Why PFPE

Perfluorinated Polyethers (PFPE) are long-chain fluoropolymers consisting of fluorine, carbon and oxygen atoms. Because fluorine and oxygen atoms are strongly bonded to carbon, PFPE are very inert. PFPEs are one of the best choices for high or wide-temperature range applications, harsh or aggressive chemical environments, high vacuum, radiation resistance or other high performance lubricant applications.

PFPE Fluids Feature:

  • Non-flammable
  • Excellent thermal and oxidative stability
  • Extremely wide temperature range capabilities
  • High Viscosity Index
  • Inert to liquid and gaseous oxygen (LOX and GOX)
  • Unparalleled chemical and solvent resistance (including water and steam)
  • Compatible with and non-reactive to most metals, plastics, elastomers and rubbers; does not cause embrittlement, or swelling of these materials.
  • Exceptionally low volatility (low evaporative losses)
  • Non-toxic (many grades are food-grade capable) and environmentally safe
  • Excellent electrical resistance

Example Application Industries:

  • Automotive
  • Defense, Aviation & Aerospace
  • Food equipment
  • Medical and Critical Applications
  • Oil and Gas
  • Process Equipment
  • Paper and Corrugation
  • Semiconductors and electronics

PFPE Exceptional performance under extreme conditions:

  • Nuclear industry
  • Electrical components
  • Textile, including dyeing
  • Bearings, valves, barrier fluid applications, and instruments
  • Vacuum systems (including diffusion and turbo pumps)
  • Chemical manufacture including:  oxygen, chlorine, UF6, acids and other corrosives.
  • Excellent base for high performance greases and pastes
  • Automotive brake systems and other components
